First impressions

It’s been a very exciting and busy first 4 days in Hong Kong. Most of our time has been spent getting our bearings; purchasing cell phones; dropping by Gina’s office; meeting up with old friends; looking for serviced apartments. Of course, I had to visit the Flagship Shanghai Tang store *my favorite*.

We’ve done limited sightseeing, but please anticipate more on our local adventures, which will be the focus of this blog.

So far we can report the following…

We went to Mong Kok neighborhood for dinner and Darryl is happy to report that he ate black chicken and pig brain. He has one up on Andrew Zimmern. I am learning what dishes do not contain chǐyóu 豉油 and have found gluten-free grocers throughout Hong Kong Island, and specifically in Central near work.

While we’ve spent most of our energy running errands, I’ve enjoyed taking photos of local signs and products. Please enjoy our satirical thoughts below.

Perhaps a healthy promotion gone wrong?

Despite her unkind words, I still heart kitty.

And Happy Easter greetings from Godiva:

  1. OH MY GOD! I love that Hello Kitty! So glad you two have started your adventure and that you've chosen to do a blog. I love it! I don't know about the brain though - did it taste like chicken? Keep up the pics and posts!
